UK Parliament Week is an important annual event that gives the opportunity for school children to learn about what Parliament is, what it does, and how everyone across the country, no matter their age or background, can get involved in our democratic system.

This UK Parliament Week, Catherine has filmed a short video for children across Newcastle North, answering some of the most common questions Catherine is asked on visits to local schools. In the video, Catherine speaks about what she does as an MP, both in her role representing the constituency in Parliament and as a Minister in the Department for Education.

Catherine McKinnell MP, who has served as the MP for Newcastle North since 2010, said:

“UK Parliament Week is a really important way for children and young people to engage in our democracy and I look forward to seeing how schools in Newcastle North engage with UK Parliament Week and in our political system more widely.

“Today’s children are the next generation of UK politicians, and I am pleased that UK Parliament Week gives them the opportunity to see how they can be a voice for the issues they care most about.”
